Garage Door Openers

Residential and Commercial Garage Doors

Whether you are looking for a replacement opener or a garage door opener to install in your new or existing home, STANDARD SERVICE COMPANY can determine the proper opener for your door.

The majority of garage door openers manufactured in the past ten years have normally had either a 1/3 HP or a ½ HP motor. Although within the past four years some manufacturers started using DC motors and now ¾ HP motors are on the market. While it is true that a 1/3 HP opener will open most properly balanced garage doors, as the horse power increases the strain placed on the opener will normally decrease. The most strain is placed on the opener when it first begins to start when it stops. The use of a DC motor was utilized to reduce this strain since the speed of a DC motor can be controlled while the garage door motor is running and can be slowed down while the motor is starting or stopping. However, the DC garage door openers tend to be at the top of the door opener price range and hence their use has been somewhat limited in many markets. We can help you decide which garage door opener will best suit your needs!

The biggest difference between openers from the home improvement stores and ours is the rail is made from one 8'or longer continuous piece of material.

Garage door openers from the big box stores are not built the same as openers since the one piece rail will not fit in many consumers vehicles easily, the big box stores carry a three piece rail only so that the rail can be placed inside a vehicle and taken home. These three piece rails tend to buckle at the splices and places more strain on the garage door opener in some cases while the door is moving. The DOOR OPENER CARRIAGE( the part that is connected to the door arm) also will also tend to catch and skip as it travels past the spliced sections on some openers as they become worn from the flexing and bowing. Also most retail store openers will open up to 7' 6” tall garage door and require another fourth extension piece for an 8' tall door.Professional residential openers have different length one piece rails for doors up to 10' tall doors.

Although the 1/3 HP chain drive openers tend to be at the low end of the price range they also normally carry the shortest warranty on materials.

Whether the garage door opener is a chain drive, a worm screw drive or a belt drive opener it is determined more by your local market than any other factor. We have access to all three types of garage door openers and will make recommendations of which type will be the best suited for your budget, the type of door, and the environmental conditions of the area where the opener will be used. The other types of garage door openers may cost a little more up front they can have up to a lifetime warranty on the motors and/or materials.Ask us for the best GARAGE DOOR OPENER value that will suit your budget and needs!

Although the commercial door openers work about the same as a residential opener they usually do not have any of the UL-325 built-in SAFETY FEATURES that are required on residential openers and therefore are not normally carried in the retail stores that sell to the general public.

We carry commercial door openers for any size commercial and industrial application. The standard commercial door opener will only have (1) INTERIOR THREE BUTTON WALL STATION included in the base price, and power cards, RADIO CONTROLSREVERSING EDGES and PHOTO CELLS are optional items. While reversing edges and photo cell sensors are optional they are highly recommended for many safety reasons. If these items are not used then the three button wall station should be wired so that the door will only close by maintaining constant pressure on the close button. In addition the three button wall station should always be placed within site of the overhead garage door. The power wiring and the conduit wiring to the tree button wall station may require the services of a professional licensed electrician.CONTACT OUR OFFICE determine the proper operator for your door, type of use and the industrial environmental conditions that present where the operator will be installed.
